Greetings!  At Gabriel Richard Catholic High School, we recognize that a child's high school experience can make a significant difference in his or her readiness for college and career.  We foster an atmosphere in which students strive to not only reach their highest academic potential, but to strengthen and live their faith while developing leadership and social skills that are crucial for continued success.

Academic Excellence

With 14 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 9 honors classes, Gabriel Richard provides a rigorous academic environment that challenges, nurtures and prepares students for life beyond high school.  100 percent of our school's graduates are accepted to college annually, and our students consistently exceed state and national averages on standardized tests.

A Community Built on Faith, Knowledge and Service

At Gabriel Richard, we encourage our students to grow in their understanding of themselves, in their relationship with God, and in their relationship with others.  Our students attend weekly mass, engage in daily prayer and participate in community service each year. Last year alone, GR students provided more than 5,000 hours of help to those in need!

Poised for the Future

Thanks to the generous contributions of our GR families, friends and alumni, we have made several enhancements and improvements to our school.

  • During the summer of 2022, we installed air conditioning units in each of our classrooms to facilitate a healthy and comfortable learning environment.  We have replaced drinking fountains with filtered water stations.

  • We continue our school-wide initiative of updating classrooms to reflect collaborative learning environments with the latest technology.  Enhancements include carpeting, flexible seating, upgraded technology and new, dimmable LED lighting.  This past summer, we completely remodeled our chemistry lab and classroom, and will renovate our computer lab in 2023.

  • A brand new athletic track and new athletic training room are recent additions that complement our one-of-a-kind, multipurpose artificial turf field and state-of-the-art floating gymnasium floor.

  • We recently installed a new audiovisual system in our cafetorium and stage area that includes four 70-inch monitors, a 16' x 10' drop-down projection screen, a new sound system, and a wireless microphone system with touchpad control.

  • Finally, our students take part in a 1:1 technology program with Chromebooks and wireless Internet throughout the campus.  We became the first school in Michigan to implement a Chrome@home Program, allowing us to provide virtual instruction to students who may require remote learning.

Developing Each Individual as a Whole

We are more than academics.  Our extracurricular programs offer something for everyone, including 30 sports teams that promote sportsmanship and integrity; a vibrant fine and performing arts program; and several student activities that promote leadership and social opportunities.  90 percent of our students are involved in at least one extracurricular activity.

I invite you to come and experience the difference a Catholic education can make.  It's a great time to be a Pioneer!

Your's in Christ,

Mr. Joseph Whalen
