High School Placement Test

 

Completing the High School Placement Test is required for all 8th grade students who wish to be considered for admittance to Gabriel Richard Catholic High School for the 2022-2023 school year.  The exam consists of multiple choice questions in is divided into five sections: Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading, Mathematics, and Language.   The cost to take the test is $50 and may only be taken once.

Although students must take the placement test, it is not the sole determinant for admittance.  Other factors such as grades and recommendations are also considered. Test results are used for course placement and to determine merit scholarships. The High School Placement Test will be offered at Gabriel Richard on the following dates:

 

• Saturday, November 18, 2023 

• Saturday, December 2, 2023*

An additional test will be offered in January.  Registration for the November and December test dates opens on September 1.  To register, click here.

Families are encouraged to register online no later than the Thursday before the chosen test date, but walk-ins are also welcome.  Students are asked to arrive by 7:40 a.m. and usually are finished around 11 a.m. (unless taking an extended-time test).

 

*Any student who requires accommodations for the HSPT should register for the December 2 test date.

Testing Accommodations

Gabriel Richard will provide test accommodations to students with a documented IEP or non-service plan and have applied to the GR.  (Students who have not applied to GR and require accommodations should inquire directly with the school in which they are applying.) 

 

Parents/guardians of students who require testing accommodations must sign up for online and must submit the required documentation to Gabriel Richard no later than the Friday before Thanksgiving.  Please note:  We are unable to provide accommodations to walk-in students.

High School Placement Test Prep Class
